BIRD WATCHING EXPERIENCE IN PARACAS

Peru is home to an extraordinary diversity of bird species, some of them resident and others migratory, making Peru the third country in the world with the greatest diversity of birds, with a record of 1,858 species, of which more than 100 are endemic. Thus, in the Paracas National Reserve we have 216 species of birds.

So it's time to escape from the city and enjoy the experience of nature with us and delight in the variety of birds in the area. Whether you are an amateur or an expert in bird watching, we have the ideal visit for you.

 

Level 1 Beginner:

From the hand of our guide you will learn the magical world of birds, how to identify them through their shape, grouping them into families, as well as how we should behave towards them. You will be introduced to the use of binoculars and keep a basic record of the species seen.

Duration: 3 hours / 2 stops.

 

Intermediate level 2. 

If you already have basic knowledge of bird watching then we are ready to continue with our learning with our guide.

Now we will analyze the behavior of birds, identifying them by sounds and selecting them by species and we will see their movement and behavior towards other species.

Duration: 3 ½ hours / 3 stops

 

Level 3 advanced or experts.

Together with our expert guides, we will look for birds that are difficult to locate, carrying out meticulous work of identification and registration of species and we will help you find those birds that you have searched for so much and that need to be completed on your list. Duration 5 hours

 

TOUR 1 LEVEL 1.

First point.

Introduction to bird watching.

Rules of behavior towards them.

Use of binoculars and registration card.

Second point.

Appreciating the beauty of the desert we will arrive at a set of beaches with different substrates which will help us find a variety of birds, differentiating them by their habitat and food according to the area.

Birds that could be registered depending on the season:

Peruvian pelican, booby, Peruvian gull, Dominican gull, gray gull, Chilean flamingo, American oystercatcher, blackish oystercatcher, red-headed gull, ruddy stone turner, whimbrel, black skimmer, wattletail, gray plover, sandpiper, sandpiper among others .

Duration: 2 ½ hours

 

TOUR LEVEL 2

(6:30 a.m. Pick up from your hotel).

Delivery of material for bird observation and recording.

First point.

It will begin with a walk along the beach in Paracas Bay where you can record 10 or more species of birds, including residents and migratory birds depending on the season.

Here we will find some migratory and resident birds (depending on the season) such as the Chilean flamingo, gray plover, sandpiper, semipalmated sandpiper, gray-hooded gull, among others.

Dwell time: 1 ½ hour

 

Second point.

Crossing the desert we will reach different beaches with sandy and rocky shores and here we will find other varieties of birds such as the Peruvian booby, some cormorants, Peruvian pelicans, some seagulls and terns among others.

Residence time 1 hour

 

Third point.

Like the birds that we find on the shores of the beaches, we can find others in the desert area such as the Peruvian miner, an endemic bird.

Residence time 1 hour.

 

TOUR LEVEL 3

6:30 am pick up from your hotel

 

First point.

It will begin in Paracas Bay (residential area) recognizing migratory and resident birds.

Second point.

We will program the points to observe, according to the visitor's interests, considering the first point as basic and it will be extended, with prior permission, to Sequión within the RNP.
